Trends, trends and more trends –the world of advertising is run by nothing but trends today. As most companies are trying to grab as many customers as they can and as competition just keeps getting bigger, tougher and stronger, you end up looking for as many ways as you can to improve your advertising and marketing campaigns. As social media gains a stronger foothold by the day and websites become more inclined towards keeping people glued onto their pages rather than just giving them information and letting them go, the world of advertising is noticing some interesting trends that might fascinate you.

For a glance at what is making the world of advertising turn today, here’s a look at the latest trends that you should be following in adverts.
Videos are In
In the modern Internet age, no one is buying ad-space anymore. People would rather put up their advertisements on the Internet, on websites like YouTube or Metacafe, and let other people watch them for enjoyment. The videos don’t necessarily need to be about the products or the services. They could show funny videos of people falling over or simply great moment in sports or things that other people would log onto these websites to watch.
A small logo here or there will show exactly who put that video up and bang! That’s your advertisement. Since 2008, there has been a steady decline in the kind of advertising revenue that has been allocated and spent by companies around the world. The number of videos being streamed online, during the same time, has increased exponentially during the same period of time. That, if anything, is a sign of which way you need to go.

Brand their Entertainment
Now, you might think television advertising is still the head honcho and deserves most of your attention. You will be surprised to learn that a rather large majority of 18 to 40 year old people spend almost thrice as much time on the Internet as they do in front of the television. Web channels are showing their favourite shows, when they want them and how they want them, with the freedom of picking the timings and the breaks they want in the middle.
Whether streaming movies or television shows or videos, you will always find your target audience on the Internet so instead of wasting your money on sponsoring television shows, you need to start looking at the programmes that people are watching on the Internet and put your money there.
New Tube
When it comes to advertising, you need to start looking away from the television and start looking towards online video websites. Not only is it cheaper to put up your video on the Internet, you are guaranteed to create a stir if there is any semblance of anything interesting on it, for someone (e.g. if your advertisement is about home security and is quite funny, don’t be surprised if people suddenly start sending it to others around the world and you get a hundred thousand or so views). When most people aren’t watching television, they are watching videos on the Internet and that is where your advertisement needs to be.
The world of advertising is shifting to the Internet and even on the Internet, there is a specific focus on videos that are interesting rather than just putting advertisements for the heck of it. Whether you are slipping your ads into the 30-second slot ahead of a video or putting it up as a viral video itself, you are guaranteed to catch a lot more eyes with this change in focus rather than with the regular television spot technique.
